Biographies
Biography 1:
The first character to appear on my front cover is a young white British teenage female, called Libby, who is 17. She has brown hair and a slim build that implicitly helps to convey her story. She struggles with grief and her mental health, after losing her best friend to Covid-19 during the first few months of the pandemic. She has finally decided to speak out and tell her story, which she has stayed quiet about for so long due to fear and grief. She talks about how she spent time with her friend just days before she passed away, and spoke to her on the phone just hours before the death. Her family background is B/C1, with both parents owning their own successful businesses, meaning that they do not struggle and are well provided for. She is an only child and therefore often feels lonely when her parents are at work regularly and she no longer has her best friend. She works part time in a local toy shop which helps to pass the time, but is also sitting her A-Levels so has to focus mainly on those. She also enjoys working out and attends the gym twice a week.
Biography 2:
My second character is a teenage boy called Joshua, who is currently 19. He has recently come out as bisexual after many years of struggling to come to terms with his sexuality, and was accepted well by his friends at uni. But coming out to his father didn't go well, as he is very traditional and doesn't understand. He beat his son up and kicked him out of the house, leaving Joshua homeless for some time before he started uni. His family background is C2/D, as his father is a working class builder and his mother works in an accounts office. He doesn't have a job, so is struggling with money whilst being at uni. He enjoys going out with his friends, as they are a close knit group who have supported him through the process.
Both of my characters have different representations, as they are from different social classes and are a different gender. They also have different identities and sexualities, representing different groups within society.
